EU TAPS Project

The Technical Assistance project was designated to build the capacity of local stakeholders and enhance the competitiveness of the private sector.

The overall objectives of the Project were:

  1. To promote sector growth to move the economy away from its reliance on the public sector,
  2. To spur private job creation,
  3. To increase income convergence with the government controlled areas,
  4. To prepare Micro and Small-Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) for reunification; to comply with the Acquis and provide support to make enterprises aware of best practices in various sectors.

General guidance on EU import and transit rules for live animals and animal products from third countries

Detailed EU legislation in the veterinary field lays down the conditions that apply to the imports of live animals and products of animal origin from third countries. The responsibility for this area lay within the domain of the Health and Consumers Directorate-General (DG SANCO).
